*********CANDIDATE PROFILES*********
A Message From Our Next Governor, Pat McCrory
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each and every one of you.
Your incredible support allowed us to win over 83% of the vote in the Republican primary. With over 740,000 votes cast for our campaign, that makes us the largest recipient of votes this election!
That’s over 740,000 votes for fixing our broken state. That’s over 740,000 North Carolinians who want a new leader in Raleigh to fix our broken government and broken economy. And that’s over 740,000 of you standing up for education reform that demands we do better than failing to graduate over 20% of our high school students.
As mayor of Charlotte, I built a reputation as a bipartisan reformer who brought leaders together from different political parties to fix tough problems. And I think now is the time to bring that same leadership to state government.
That’s why last night I proudly accepted the Republican nomination for governor of North Carolina. I love Charlotte and it was an honor to serve as the city’s mayor and be a part of a team that helped build an economic hub and a wonderful quality of life, but I love this state even more and now we’re going to do the same in North Carolina.
To turn North Carolina around, we must first turn the page from the failed leadership of the Easley/Perdue/Dalton team. We must all work together as a state — Republican, Democrat and Independent — to put our resourses back to work.
Let’s build on our success and continue to expand our growing team.
Pat McCrory
A Message from County Commissioner Candidate Randy Tweed
There is a rumor out and about that if I was to win the Primary that I would bow out. I can promise that is a false rumor, I was asked to run for this office by some folks of Madison County. If I was to win the primary, I promise I will not bow out. I am and the people that vote for me are in it to win it.
Thank you for your support
Randy Tweed
Civitas Poll Shows Dems Continue to Trail McCrory
The latest poll from the John W. Pope Civitas Institute shows former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory maintaining a solid lead over all likely Democratic challengers.
Registered voters were asked who they’d vote for if the election were held today and the candidates were McCrory, a Republican, and former U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge, a Democrat. Forty-nine percent picked McCrory; 34 percent chose Etheridge.
McCrory, the favorite for the GOP nomination, also bested Lt. Governor Walter Dalton by 48 percent to 32 percent in the poll. State Rep. Bill Faison (D-Orange) was supported by 28 percent of respondents, with McCrory the choice of 51 percent of voters.
The results showed little change from last month’s Civitas Poll.
“Primary campaigns usually boost one candidate’s profile compared to the other party’s hopeful,” Civitas President Francis X. DeLuca said. “That hasn’t happened here yet. McCrory will start the general election race with a base of voters being ‘definitely’ in support of him. After the May 8 primary, the Democratic nominee will likely have a steep hill to climb.”

STRONG CONSERVATIVE MARK MEADOWS ANNOUNCES RUN FOR US NC DISTRICT 11 CONGRESSIONAL SEAT
Meadows: “Western North Carolina Deserves a U.S. Representative
Who Will Defend Our Conservative, North Carolina Values.”
CASHIERS, NC (October 3, 2011) – Jackson County businessman, real estate investor and long time GOP delegate Mark Meadows announced today he is running for the U.S. N.C. District 11 Congressional seat currently held by Democrat Heath Shuler.
