ATTENTION ALL REPUBLICANS!!
Please come join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, June 5th starting at 6:30 PM. We meet at the Madison County Agricultural Extension Office in Marshall (at the county fairgrounds). We will have our General Election candidates in place and we will begin paving the road to victory in November, 2012. We need you to get involved now!!
Our cowardly (democrat) County Commissioners voted tonight (4 to 1) to remove a legitimate item (a “Resolution in Favor of Passing the NC Marriage Amendment” proposed by Commissioner Bill Briggs) from the Meeting Agenda because they are afraid to let the citizens of Madison County know where they stand on this subject. By doing this, they tried to erase from the official records, the fact that this was even on the agenda. I will include a copy of Commissioner Briggs’ Resolution in it’s entirety on the “Marriage Amendment” page of this website for your review. Commissioner Briggs was elected with the most votes in the 2010 General Election. In nearly two years, Commissioner Briggs has received a Second on only one (1) motion he has made. Now, in order for Mr. Briggs to garner the most votes in the General Election, that means that many democrats and Unaffiliated voters voted for him. The other four (4) Commissioners refuse to acknowledge the fact Mr. Briggs was elected with bi-partisan support countywide and they ignore and even dismiss literally everything he tries to offer. For the record, Billy Roberts made the Motion to remove Commissioner Briggs’ item from the Meeting Agenda and Hall Moore Seconded the Motion. All four (4) democrat Commissioners voted in favor of Billy Roberts’ Motion. Even if you disagree with Commissioner Briggs’ Resolution, it has the right to be on the Meeting Agenda, to be heard, to be made part of the official meeting records and to be voted on so that we as citizens can see if our elected officials are behaving/voting in a way we find acceptable to the voting public.
